The new Orbital album features guest vocals by acoustic singer/songwriter David Gray. "Illuminate," a reflective track balances Gray's emotive drawl with shuffling beats and a syncopated keyboard line. Orbital co-founder Phil Hartnoll had no problem hooking up with Gray because the two acts share not only the same manager, but some of the same family members. David Gray kicks off his largest North American tour ever. On this 33-date run, he and his band headline venues including New York's Radio City Music Hall and Los Angeles' Universal Amphitheatre, as well as multiple engagements at The Warfield in San Francisco and the Moore Theatre in Seattle. White Ladder (ATO Records/RCA) was recently certified Platinum in the U.S., and continues its steady climb up the Billboard 200 chart, recently breaking into the top 40. The video for "Babylon" is getting airtime on VH1, MTV and MTV2. In recent months Gray has performed on Saturday Night Live, two engagements on Late Show with David Letterman, The Tonight Show With Jay Leno, Late Late Show with Craig Kilborn and Austin City Limits. In the past year Gray has received outstanding press support from outlets including Rolling Stone, USA Today, Newsweek, Spin and Entertainment Weekly. The White Ladder track "Sail Away" will be featured in the upcoming Robert DeNiro film 15 Minutes, set to hit U.S. theaters in March. The second single from White Ladder, "Please Forgive Me," will go to radio and video outlets in the spring. Plans are currently being made for an American release by ATO Records/RCA of Lost Songs 95-98, a collection of material written by Gray between his third album, Sell Sell Sell, and White Ladder. This stripped-down acoustic album of previously unrecorded songs has recently been nominated for a Brit Award in the "Best Album" category.
